SPECIAL EDUCATION
Olivia Rangel has worked in the Special Education field for over 20 years and has been dedicated to the Newark Community for over ten years. Initially hired as a paraeducator in a neighboring district, she has served as an Inclusion Specialist, Special Day Class Teacher, Lead Teacher, Program Specialist, Principal, and now Director of Special Education. Mrs. Rangel holds multiple credentials, including her teaching credential from San Jose State University and Administrative Credential from Cal State East Bay.
The Director of Special Education is responsible for oversight of all district Special Education programming and services, preschool through high school; coordination of Section 504; and ensures due process for Special Education and Section 504 Programs. Mrs. Rangel is dedicated to providing students with services in their Least Restrictive Environment and creating quality programs to meet the varied needs of our students.
Responsible for student program placement; procedures/questions regarding IEPs; home instruction students.
Administrative support to the Director; budgets; contracts
Special Education transportation; records request; SEIS System; administrative support.
