Accreditation Status

On July 8, 2019 the Committee on Accreditation granted the Accreditation status to Newark Teacher Induction.  Change of Accreditation Status Letter

The Newark Unified School District serves approximately 6,000 K-12 students at twelve school sites, including one comprehensive high school, one continuation high school, one junior high school, and eight elementary schools. The District also offers independent study, preschool, childcare, summer intervention programs, and other programs for student and community support.  Students are served by a dedicated staff of approximately 600 certificated, classified, and management employees. The District is very proud of  of all its schools, many of which have received local, state, and national recognition.

Newark Unified School District is located in the city of Newark, California, a Northern California city of over 40,000 people in the San Francisco Bay Area.  The city of Newark is 35 miles south-east of San Francisco, 25 miles south of Oakland, and 20 miles north of San Jose.  Its location affords easy access to institutions of higher learning, including: Stanford University, University of California, Berkeley; San Francisco State University, San Jose State University, St. Mary’s College, California State East Bay and Santa Clara University, as well as cultural events and centers, city entertainment, and professional athletic competitions. Newark enjoys a small town atmosphere, numerous opportunities for local shopping and recreation, and supportive, stable and solvent city government.  It has deep historical roots, community pride, and spirit.

Newark Unified School District Teacher Induction Program is authorized to support teachers with preliminary and Level I credentials to earn a recommendation for a clear multiple subject, single subject and/or education specialist credential.
