Transfer Requests for the 2019-2020 School Year
Transfers are requested when a parent/guardian wants a student to attend a school other than the student’s home school. Click here to see Newark’s school boundaries. All transfer forms can be picked up at the District Office or at any school site office. All transfer requests must be submitted to the District Office, school sites cannot accept these requests.
My child was overflowed in the 2018-2019 school year and I want them to stay at their current school.
If you would like your child to continue attending the school they are currently overflowed to you will need to complete an Open Enrollment (Intra-District Transfer) Request form. These forms are to be turned in to the District Office during the month of December.
I live in Newark and I want my elementary student to attend a different Newark school
If you would like to have your child attend a different elementary school for the 2019-2020 school year, you will need to complete an Open Enrollment (Intra-District Transfer) Request form. Space is limited so it is extremely important to fill out and turn in the form as quickly as possible. All Open Enrollment (Intra-District Transfer) requests for CURRENT STUDENTS should be turned in to the District Office between January 7-31, 2019. Open Enrollment requests for incoming Kindergarten students will be accepted after registration is completed at the student’s neighborhood school.
Open Enrollment (Intra-District Transfer) Requests that cannot be approved before the school year ends will be reviewed beginning the week before school begins to see if space for more transfers has become available. Pupil Services will continue to check for available space daily for approximately the first 10 days of school. Requesting families will be called as soon as the request can be accommodated. Please call Pupil Services at (510) 818-4202 if you have changed your phone number from what you provided when you turned in the request for transfer.
