Dear Newark USD Community,
Hope you are all doing well and staying safe and had a good weekend. As we look towards this new week I want to remind you that the official end of the school year for students is Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Our instructional calendar hasn’t changed with the transition to distance learning. Also, please remember that there is no school for staff and students on Monday, May 25, as we observe Memorial Day.
We have been working with our school principals to plan for the end of the school year and this week principals will send out the process with directions to families. Please watch for communication explaining the time slot for families to turn in library books and other items. At the secondary level, students will be able to clear out their lockers and return textbooks. Thank you for your support and if you have any questions, please contact your school principal directly or email us at
At this time, we are not sure what school will look like for the fall start of the 2020-2021 school year but we know we must continue our planning for the incoming school year. We will continue to work with the Alameda County Office of Education and also with the Public Health Department and the State as we make plans for August, 2020. At this time our start date for students has not changed (August 13, 2020) but we know school will look different. We encourage families to please take time this week to register online so that we can continue to plan accurately for the next school year. Please visit our website for more information at Our school office managers are available to answer any questions about school registrations and can support you.
Thank you and have a great week!
Leticia Salinas, Acting Superintendent
