Join the Newark Unified School District after-school instrumental music program. The program is open to all incoming 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and is funded by the Newark Educational Foundation. Students will learn to play one of a variety of instruments and perform in the Elementary Band.
Why should you learn to play and better understand music?
- Learning an instrument is FUN and develops discipline
- Practicing an instrument increases a student’s ability to focus
- Studies show that learning music early in one’s life greatly improves mathematical and abstract thinking abilities
We will have an information night on Thursday, September 14th at 7:00 PM at Birch Grove Primary. At this event we will discuss sign-ups and class times. We will also have instrument demonstrations and a question and answer session. Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays at Birch Grove Primary. Many instruments are available—and will be provided on a first come—first served basis. There is NO enrollment fee or other costs associated with the program.
If you have any questions regarding the program, please contact Mr. Nunes at [email protected].
